Tocopherol
Tocopherol is a group of natural organic compounds that are the main forms of vitamin E. Soybean oil is one of the richest natural sources of tocopherols, especially compared to other vegetable oils. Crude or minimally processed soybean oil has high levels of tocopherols, which makes it a valuable source of natural vitamin E.
Packing: 5L, 20L, 200L drums, 1000L IBC tanks.
Storage: Tocopherol should be stored in a covered shed with a dry atmosphere.
Shelf Life: 24 months after manufacturing.
Tocopherol is a highly versatile product with a variety of applications across multiple industries. Here are some of the primary uses:
| Category | Specific Examples | Primary Benefit | Typical Usage Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oils and Fats | Vegetable oils (soybean, sunflower, canola), frying oils, high-stability bakery oils, shortenings, lard/poultry fat | Prevents rapid oxidation in unsaturated fats, maintains frying stability | Most common application; effective at 100–1000 ppm of fat content |
| Margarine and Spreads | Margarine, plant-based spreads, butter alternatives | Protects against rancidity, preserves flavor and color | Used in fat phases for clean-label preservation |
| Mayonnaise, Dressings & Sauces | Mayonnaise, salad dressings, marinades, prepared sauces, emulsions | Stabilizes oil phases, prevents separation and off-odors | Ideal for high-polyunsaturated fat emulsions |
| Baked Goods & Snacks | Cookies, cakes, crackers, extruded snacks, cake mixes, refrigerated/frozen dough, bread | Extends shelf life in products with added oils/fats, prevents staleness | Common in clean-label baked items |
| Cereals & Convenience Foods | Breakfast cereals, dehydrated potatoes, convenience/ready meals | Maintains freshness in fortified or lipid-containing items | Often for nutritional fortification + antioxidant protection |
| Processed Meats & Animal Products | Sausages, cured meats, meat products (limited in some regs), pet foods (if food-grade) | Inhibits fat oxidation, reduces off-flavors in processed items | GRAS-approved for many meat applications |
| Infant Formula & Nutritional Products | Infant milk formula, energy bars, fortified foods | Stabilizes lipids, supports nutrient retention | Preferred natural option for sensitive products |
| Other / Specialty | Essential oils, spices, nuts/seeds, fried noodles, tuna fillets, citrus oils | Broad protection in oxidatively sensitive ingredients | Low doses for flavor-sensitive items |
